Google Ads across Canada · Kitchen and bathroom renovation

Google Ads for kitchen and bathroom renovators.

Before renovating a kitchen or a bathroom, a homeowner spends weeks looking for ideas. Then comes the day they look for a contractor. We build the campaigns that show you at that moment, the page that turns the visit into a quote request and the tracking that ties every call to its cost. The goal: real projects, with a timeline.

What your customers search for

Weeks of ideas, then one search that counts.

A kitchen or bathroom renovation takes a long time to plan. The homeowner looks for ideas, photos, cabinet colours, shower designs. These searches are plentiful and the click looks cheap, but they come from people who aren’t ready to hire a contractor yet.

The moment that counts comes later: “bathroom renovation contractor”, “turnkey kitchen renovation”, “kitchen renovation quote”, often with the name of the city. Those are the searches we pay for. The others are excluded, or left to your website and your social media.

Product searches call for the same care. People also search for a countertop, a vanity or a faucet because they want to buy one in a store. Unless you sell those products on their own, these clicks cost money without ever becoming a project.

Over time, the search terms report shows what produces quotes and what doesn’t. We read it regularly, and the budget focuses on the searches of your future customers.

Example: searches that trigger your ads

  • bathroom renovation contractor longueuilpaid
  • turnkey kitchen renovationpaid
  • modern bathroom ideasexcluded
  • quartz countertop price per square footexcluded
  • tile setter jobsexcluded
Illustrative example. Without exclusions, the last three searches would also show your ad, and you would pay for every click.

The most expensive mistakes

Five mistakes that attract browsers instead of projects.

Each one takes a few minutes to check in your Google Ads account. None of them is fixed by raising the budget.

  1. 01

    Ads that answer inspiration searches.

Words like “ideas”, “photos”, “designs” or “trends” draw plenty of clicks from people who are still dreaming. They lower the cost per click, but not the cost per signed project.

Check: sort your search terms from the last 90 days by cost, and spot the ones that contain these words.

  2. 02

A page that doesn’t show your work.

For a kitchen or a bathroom, the homeowner buys what they see first. A page without photos of your projects, before and after, sends them looking elsewhere.

Check: does your landing page show recent projects completed in your area?

  3. 03

A form that asks for neither the room nor the scope of the work.

A full bathroom and a faucet to replace are not the same project. Ask for the room, the scope of the work, the type of property, the city and the timeline: your team knows whom to call back first.

Check: before calling, can you tell whether the request is for a full renovation?

  4. 04

    Conversions that count any call.

A ten-second call is not a quote request. Google lets you count only calls that last at least a minimum length you set. Without that setting, the reports are inflated and bidding goes after the wrong calls.

Check: in your call conversions, what minimum call length is set?

Google Ads Help, call conversion tracking

  5. 05

An ad or a page without an RBQ licence number.

In Quebec, the Régie du bâtiment requires this number in every form of advertising. For work of this size, it also reassures the homeowner, who can check your licence online.

Check: is the number in your ads and on your landing page?

    RBQ, displaying your licence

These fixes don’t require a bigger budget. They require a well-built account, then a monthly follow-up based on the projects you sign.

What the engagement includes

Campaigns built around your projects.

One team handles the campaigns, the page and the tracking, then adjusts them every month based on the projects you sign.

01

One campaign per type of project.

Kitchens, bathrooms and the other rooms you renovate: each type of project gets its own keywords, ads and page. You see which one brings in the most, and the budget follows.

Keywords · Exclusions · Territory
02

A page that shows your work.

Before-and-after photos, how a project unfolds, RBQ licence, service area and a qualifying form: the homeowner sees what you do and requests a quote. Your website stays in place.

Copywriting · Design · Form
03

Every call and every form, tied to its source.

A trackable phone number, conversion tracking in Google Tag Manager and your tracking portal: you know which campaign produced which project, and at what cost. Our guide to call and form tracking explains the method.

A budget set to your schedule.

Your crews have a capacity, and a project takes up several weeks. We adjust the budget to what you can take on, so you don’t pay for leads you would have to turn down.

Everything an engagement with our Google Ads agency includes

Is this the right time?

For contractors ready to keep up with demand.

We manage campaigns for renovation companies, including kitchen and bathroom contractors. Google Ads delivers when your team can call back quickly, measure on site and offer a realistic start date. If your schedule is full for months, wait: a campaign is useless if nobody can respond. High-end landscapers face the same challenge: attracting complete projects rather than small jobs.

  • Your projects come mostly through word of mouth, at a pace you don’t control.
  • You already pay for advertising without knowing how many projects it produced.
  • You want leads that are yours alone, from homeowners who chose you.

Frequently asked questions

Costs, timelines, inspiration: your questions about Google Ads.

How much does Google Ads cost for a renovation contractor?

Two amounts, always kept separate. Our management fees generally range from $700 to $3,000 per month, depending on the number of campaigns and pages to build. Your ad budget comes on top and is paid directly to Google: plan on at least $1,000 per month, often more depending on the competition in your territory. The proposal states both amounts before you commit.

How soon do the first leads come in?

Your landing page is ready in 7 to 10 days, and a standard campaign is live in about two weeks. The first leads come in over the following weeks. To know whether Google Ads is profitable, meaning how many quotes turn into signed projects, plan on three to six months. The engagement also requires a minimum commitment of six months, with fees billed monthly.

Should you target idea and inspiration searches?

Rarely with Google Ads. These searches come from people who aren’t ready to hire a contractor. Your photos, your website and your social media serve them better. The ad budget goes to searches from people who want a quote. To get known earlier, visual advertising may be a better fit: see our guide Google Ads vs. Meta Ads.

Google Ads or a quote platform: what’s the difference?

A quote platform usually sends the same request to two or three contractors, who end up competing on price. With Google Ads, the homeowner lands on your page and contacts you. The lead is yours alone, and you stay in control of the message.

Who owns the Google Ads account?

You do. The account is in your name from the start. If the engagement ends, you keep your campaigns, your history, your access and your data.
